The red and blue lettering shown in this radio picture has
been enhanced to show what the faceplate would look like in very dark conditions
The red and blue letters don't really look like this in daylight.
Shown in actual light in photos below.

The inverter that powers the blue lettering causes a faint high
pitched noise to be heard in the receive signal. Galaxy has not come
up with a fix for this. It bothers some people a lot. If you
think it might bother you, then you might want to get the regular
DX-959 instead.
Please note, the StarLite lettering is always at full brightness
because it
is not very intense - even in the dark. It is designed to let you know
where
the controls are, but not be too bright. The back lighting may be turned
off
using the Display Push switch but the brightness level is not affected
by
the Dimmer pot. The StarLite lettering is always at full brightness when
it
is on.
The blue digits of the frequency display and channel display can go from
very bright to very dim using our high resolution dimmer circuit. The
Dimmer
control pot on the DX959B starts dimming almost immediately when you
start
turning it down from maximum. On some radios, the dimming effect is not
even
noticeable until you turn the pot a quarter or half turn. This one
starts
dimming immediately and dims continuously down to where you can barely
notice the digits are on. This is perfect for night driving. You make
the
digits exactly as bright as you like them. Of course, the digits can be
shut
off completely with the Display Push switch.

This is a playlist and has multiple videos
(notice

Galaxy radios sometimes have a small scratch or
ding that the factory covers with black touch up. We cannot
effect this and do not guarantee your radio to be cosmetically
perfect. Bells CB will make no marks or scratches on your radio
ourselves. Galaxy might though and I cannot control it.

As many of you may know; Ranger, Galaxy and General
radios have all had some poor tolerance coax connectors this
last year (SO-239 on the back of the radio) . You have to
wiggle the coax just right to get a good grab on the threads
of the connector. They are too far “out of tolerance” and we
can no longer accept it. So we have started changing
the coax connectors ourselves to a much higher quality
SO-239 that will fit your coax nice and tight. This has
affected our selling price ($10) but we think you will agree
that it is worth it.
