This 27 inch telescopic whip will provide approximately double the range of the original “rubber duckie” antenna. Collapses down to 8 inches. It also increases the antenna bandwidth for those multi-extra channel units.

I did a test using an MFJ-259B Antenna analyzer and these are the results:

Factory OEM antenna:

Center Frequency Fc = 27.655 MHz with 1.4 SWR
Bandwidth at 2:1 SWR points :
27.205 – 28.525 MHz (1.32 MHz)
Non-Adjustable
HT Antenna Extended fully:

Center Frequency Fc = 27.025 MHz with 1.2 SWR
Bandwidth at 2:1 SWR points :
25.405 – 31.605 MHz (6 MHz)
Adjustable center frequency (change length of the extention)
