This 27 inch telescopic whip will provide approximately double the range of the original "rubber duckie" antenna. Collapses down to 8 inches. It also increases the antenna bandwidth for those multi-extra channel units.

I did a test using an MFJ-259B Antenna analyzer and these are the results:

Factory OEM antenna:

  • Center Frequency Fc = 27.655 MHz with 1.4 SWR
  • Bandwidth at 2:1 SWR points :
    27.205 - 28.525 MHz (1.32 MHz)
  • Non-Adjustable

HT Antenna Extended fully:

  • Center Frequency Fc = 27.025 MHz with 1.2 SWR
  • Bandwidth at 2:1 SWR points :
    25.405 - 31.605 MHz (6 MHz)
  • Adjustable center frequency (change length of the extention)
